  Big Thanks to All Participants of SampTA 2011, Singapore 

      The 9th International Conference on Sampling Theory and Applications (SampTA 2011) was  held for the first time in Asia at the Yunnan Garden Campus of the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore from May 2 - 6, 2011.

The SampTA 2011 Programme included an intense week of exciting technical talks and social activities.

 

The Opening Ceremony was graced by Professor Bertil Andersson, President of NTU, who welcomed the 132 participants hailing from 26 countries. The Opening Keynote by Professor Martin Vetterli kickstarted the Technical Programme from which followed  7 Plenary Talks by other prominent speakers such as Stephane Mallat, John Benedetto, Graham Goodwin, Albert Cohen, Shen Zuowei, Willy Sansen and Field's Medalist Steve Smale. All of the papers presented at the Regular Sessions on traditional topics and Special Sessions on selected topics in sampling theory and applications are now available in digital form in the  Conference Proceedings

 

The diverse and intense Social Programme included a performance by  the NTU Malay Dance Society, a visit to the Kranji Countryside, Night Safari and Marina Bay Skypark, as well as  a riverside cruise to the conference dinner at the Palm Beach Seafood Restaurant and finally on the last day the Best Student Paper Award Ceremony.

The SampTA 2011 Organizing Committee thanks all of the participants, as well as the generous support of the SampTA 2011 sponsors and last but not least all the student helpers from the School of EEE and Division of Mathematics without whom the conference would not have been a success.

Finally, we invite all of the sampling community to submit a new paper or an extended version of the SampTA 2011 paper to the Special Issue of the Sampling Theory in Signal and Image Processing : International Journal (STSIP Call For Papers).
